Dear Students: We have been leaving many legacies behind this school year. Our theme this year is "Leaving a Legacy." This is the last year as Indian Trail Middle School, and we are going to have a wonderful year! Next year, our school will become Indian Trail Intermediate School. We want to leave our special mark on our special school. Here are a few of my favorite books:
 Class News: We are currently working on the skill: We are currently studying Figurative Language. We will learn how to use figurative language to spice up our writing! Also, we will be studying adverbs this week. We will be starting a unit on Literary Elements this week. We will be focusing on how plot, setting, characters, rising action, falling action, resolution, and theme influence the stories that we read. Here are a few examples you need to be familiar with: Figurative Language: hyperboles, personification, similes, metaphors, alliteration and idioms We will be studying Unit 12 of AHHA this week. Please make sure that you are studying your AHHA cards on your ring each night. Also, study your definition sheet. You will not have a quiz this week. Here is a little bit of an AR update for 3rd Nine weeks: You must read at least 5 books this nine weeks to meet your goal. The genres are as follows: 1 autobiography or biography 1 realistic fiction 1 Newbery or Newbery Honor 1 book of your choice 1 book of poetry Here are the AR deadlines: 20% of goal-(1 book)-January 20th 40% of goal (2 books)-February 3rd 60% of goal (3 books)-February 17th 80% of goal (4 books)- March 2nd 100% of goal-(5 books)-March 8th *It is required that you make an 80% on the AR test in order for the book to count. Students, make sure that you are using your Time Tracker to keep up with daily assignments and stay organized. Also, please donate to the PTSA!!! There are many wonderful incentives for your class, and you will be supporting your school!!
