This site serves as a personal means to explain the value  of two young black male musical artists who have served as strong positive representives to their races and gender.

           Essential Questions to keep in mind

             What does it mean to represent?

The Webster Dictionary defines the word representative as " a typical example of a group, class or quality." The word represent has aquired meaning in the common youth vernacular which is to represent whoever you are part of in the best way possible.

              How have these artists represented?

Singers Maxwell and Bilal are two young black males who have represented who they are a part of very well. These black males have represented due to three primary reasons.

1. They respect God
2. They respect themselves
3. They respect Women

          MAXWELL

Maxwell was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 23, 1973 to a West Indian (Aruba, Trinidad, Haiti) mother and Puerto Rican father. He started writing songs at the age of 17 and released his first album at 23.

                 Respecting God...
If you look at the Maxwell's lyrics you will see that all of the songs he's written are by "musze". This is how Maxwell refers to God. He says that God is his primary inspiration for everything he does in his life and this is his way of giving him the credit.

                 Respecting himself...
Maxwell is a person who openly discusses some of the mistakes he has made in life and how he has learned from them. By accepting his faults, Maxwell respects himself.

                 Respecting Women...
Maxwell is a person who often speaks of his personal admiration for the value of he female. He is greatful for both for the things he understands and those he doesn't.

            Bilal

Bilal was born in 1980 to a Muslim father and Christian mother. He is able to sing opera in seven languages. He released his first album at the age of 21.

              Respecting God...
In Bilal songs he makes slight references to God and implies that he is the cause of everything in his life.
