Welcome to the Cal-Mum Middle School/High School Library page!

The library was recently used by 75 students in just one day!  These were students using the library for individual research or to check out books/magazines.  We are happy to host so many students in a day and hope that the number keeps increasing.

The library recently received a shipment of new books, both fiction and non-fiction.  Stop by and check one out!  Remember, there is a book for everyone (really, it's true) and Ms. Tobler is almost always available to help you find something good.  Just ask!

Library Procedures

The library is open from 7:30am-3:00pm every day.  The library is open to all students during study halls, activity blocks (middle school), flex blocks (high school), and between class changes.  Teachers may arrange for classes to be held in the library at any time, and teachers may send individual students to the library with a pass.

Middle school students must get a pre-signed pass from Ms. Tobler or Ms. Quinlan (library aide) to come to the library during study halls or activity block.  This is due to the very high volume of middle school students in activity block or study halls at the same time.  Pre-signed passes allow the librarian and library aide to control the number of students in the library.  There is also a Book Pass, issued to all middle school activity and study hall teachers, that allows one student (at a time) to come to the library for 5-10 minutes to select and check out books and magazines.  The student then returns to activity or study hall with the pass and another student may use it.

High school students need pre-signed passes to come to the library during flex blocks, as there is a very high volume of high school students in flex at the same time.  Since high school study halls are interspersed throughout the day (instead of all at the same time), study hall teachers send up to five study hall students at a time to the library.  High school students may also get pre-signed passes for study halls if they wish, in order to let the study hall teacher know that they really need to use the library that day.

Pre-signed passes may be obtained between 7:30am-7:45am (preferred) before students report to their first classes, or at any time throughout the day.  Ms. Tobler can usually be found in the library after school hours, too, if a student wishes to stop by after school for a pass for the next day.
