Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! I would like to welcome you and your child to my class at Nova Middle School. I hope we can work together to achieve the goals set for us.

Here are some suggestions to help your child be successful:
- Ask to see your child's planner DAILY. Remember: you are a role model.
- Make sure your child has a quiet place and specific time to work at home.
- Make sure your child has all of the supplies they need at home and at school.
- Encourage your child to ask teachers for help… this is what we teachers are here for.
- Ask to look at homework assignments to be sure they are completed.
- Remind your child to follow classroom rules and procedures.
- Make learning an expectation; it is NOT negotiable.
- Make sure your child follows the Dress Code.

With your support, help, and cooperation, we will have a wonderful year. I am available for conferences regarding your child's progress at your request. Please call Nova Middle School to
schedule a date and time.

I am looking forward to a productive and rewarding year with you and your child. There will be many new learning experiences and challenges. Thank you for all your help and support with your child's education. If you have any concerns throughout the school year, don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely yours,

Ms. Raquel Febles, Teacher

Dear Students,
Welcome to my classroom! I look forward to a productive and exciting year. For all this to happen, I want to introduce you to our classroom rules and procedures. I hope that the following information will be useful by providing you with an overview of my learning expectations for the school year.

The Florida Sunshine State Standards will direct student learning and are embedded within the curriculum.

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
When you enter the classroom:
- Enter the classroom quietly and on time.
- Put your homework silently in the Homework Basket.
- Go to your assigned seat.
- Be in your seat before the first bell rings.
- Have materials ready and attention focused when the
  lesson begins.
- Begin promptly the assignment on the board.

Attention: What to do if you are late for class
- You are tardy if you are not in your seat when the
clock says the class begins.  If you report to class
after this time, you must have a pass from another
teacher, an administrator or office staff.
- Tardy passes and late bus passes go into the Tardy
  Folder.
- Students who are tardy also need to complete
the "You are tardy" sign-in sheet.
- After a second tardy, parents will be notified and
student may be asked to serve detention.
- After a third tardy, the student will be referred to
  administration.

Procedure for classroom assignment heading:
                                                    Example:
     - Name**                                 Michael Phelps
     - Subject/Period                        L.A./Pd 2

**All no name papers will be placed in the "No Name File" by my desk. Students need to see me to claim their no name papers. (If after a week a No Name Paper is claimed, it will be discharged).
