Welcome to Chemistry I!!!
Course Description: Chemistry I allows students to develop a variety of skills associated with scientific inquiry, gain a historical perspective consistent with the theories of chemistry, and acquire an appreciation of the environment and role of chemistry in the preservation of the environment. To reinforce concrete learning experiences, a variety of laboratory exercises, demonstrations, and technology is utilized to illustrate scientific concepts. An emphasis is placed on safety procedures in the laboratory.
Course Timeline:
The course of study for Chemistry will follow the Nine-Week pacing guides created by the science teachers of the county. This pacing guide has divided the SOL objectives, to be covered for Chemistry, in increments of Nine-Weeks. 2006-2007 Chemistry Pacing Guide
CLASS EXPECTATIONS:
Expectations Miss Frentz has of the Students:
1. Do not do anything that would embarrass you or Abingdon High School.
2. Hands are for helping.
3. Mouths are for saying nice things.
Consequences of Breaking Expectations:
1. A verbal warning.
2. An after class discussion with Miss Frentz to develop a clear idea of what the problem is and what needs to be done to resolve the problem. Parents will also be contacted.
3. One-way ticket to the office!
