Active Spanish Club member, 2009-2010
Successful completion of (or enrollment in) Spanish 2 -or- native speaker of Spanish
Be a student in good standing (academic and behavior) at WHDS

Proposed Itinerary
DAY 01 Arrival San Pedro / Transfer Tela
Meet and greet at the international airport. Transfer to the famous beaches of Tela.
Two nights at Hotel Villas Telamar. Meals included: Dinner.
Day 02 Full Day Tela / optional tour
Water tour to Punta Sal National Park. This park is accessible only by water. Once at Punta Sal, the tour includes stopping at several beaches. On route, you may be lucky and see many dolphins. You will cross the Penninsula by foot during a 25 minute hike over flat land to arrive at the very secluded cove of Puerto Escondido, reputed to have been a pirate hang out, where you will board the boat back. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 03 Home – Transfer Copan Ruins/ Homestay 5 evenings
Visit a banana plantation as you transfer to the Copan ruinas. You are going to visit Lancetilla National Garden. This is the second largest tropical botanical garden in the world, the garden is full with tropical plants from around the world, many of them bare exotic fruits, which have attracted a multitude of tropical birds that have made the park their home. Huge bamboo forests add a mystical atmosphere. After the guided tour of the gardens, Transfer to the colonial city of Copán Ruinas where you'll meet your host families. Overnight: Host Family 5 evenings Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner.
Day 04 Student Interaction + Coffee Tours
Today we are going to meet with students like your-self from Honduras. This will be a great opportunity to interact, share experiences, and make new friends. 8:00 a.m. Soccer Game at the soccer field. Lunch at your host family 2:00 p.m. you will go to Finca Santa Isabel to take a Coffee Tours.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 05 Copan Mayan Ruins and Tunnels / Volunteer Project
After breakfast, you will visit Copán Main Archaeological Site the most artistic city of the Maya World. Visit the Copán Ruins Archeological Park, with its monumental Hieroglyphic Stairway; the Ball Court, considered to be the social center of the Maya city; and the Great Plaza, famous for its stelae, altars and tunnels. Visit the Museum of Mayan Sculpture and Las Sepulturas, a residential complex where different social strata lived. In the afternoon, volunteer project near Finca Santa Isabel.

Day 06 Bird Park and Hot Spring
Today, you are going to visit a brand new Bird Park called The Macaw Mountain just 1 mile from the town of Copan. This park has some of the most beautiful tropical birds of the country. After this visit we are going to continue to the nearby natural hot water thermal spring, which flows in a fresh clear river, creating an idyllic setting. Meals Included: Breakfast, Box lunch and Dinner.
Day 07 Horseback Riding Tour / optional zip-lining
Breakfast and Horseback Riding Tour Today's tour offers majestic views of the town and the valley from the surrounding mountains. crossing the Copán River you will be taken to a small Archaeological Site called Los Sapos or the toads (a place that the Mayan women used to give birth to their children) and to the Hacienda San Lucas. From this restored 100 year old farmhouse you will get lovely views of town and the valley. OPTIONAL $50 Los Sapos Zip lining Tour Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
DAY 08 Tela – San Pedro Sula – Home
Transfer to San Pedro Sula Airport to connect your flight back home.
