ROCKY GAP ELEMENTARY PALS PROGRAM
Hi! Welcome to my web page. My name is Regina Belcher and I am the Reading Specialist/PALS instructor at Rocky Gap Elementary School. Before coming to Rocky Gap Elem. School in 2006, I taught first grade and Title I Reading in Buchanan County, VA. I have a B.A. degree in Elem. Education from Berea College and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction w/ Reading Specialist Endorsement from VA Tech.
About PALS: PALS (Phonological Awareness and Literacy Screening) has been designated as the state-provided screening tool for the Virginia Early Intervention Reading Initiative. Students in grades Pre-K through 3rd grade at Rocky Gap Elem. are tested using the PALS Assessment 3 times per year (Fall, Mid Year and Spring).
I recommend that parents of students enrolled in the PALS Remediation Program check out the PALS website for additional information, as well as resources and suggested activites you can use at home to enhance your child's reading ability. The website address is: http://pals.virginia.edu/
