le francais II Semaine #1 Trimester 3---le 3 au 7 mars

Collect assignments from last week (crosswords, wordsearch over vocabulary, Mots 1 and 2).
Review the material, check the WKBK, vocabulary quiz over this will be mardi. After the quiz, we will review the uses of the "imparfait" that we had in the previous chapter.  Homework for jeudi will be to fill in the charts of verb forms (IMP/ PC) also the other grid that we had definitions and imperfect stems.  Mercredi we will be back in the lab to complete project information gathering.  You will need to complete this outside of class if you are unable to complete it mercredi.  Remember you have 2 destinations, aUS city that you will take a train to, and a city abroad.  You are to find the flight, cost, hotel, and 2-4 things you would do in these cities.  If you are able to find restaurants to eat at, include them as well.  You will later take this information and use it to write about the trips as if they actually took place.  you will need to create your "adventure' for the end of the chapter.  Jeudi and vendredi, we will compare the 2 tenses and correct the verb charts---Imp forms and uses with those of the PC.  We will also compile a list of "clue words" that will indicate use of the 2 tenses.  Assignments will include Act. 12 in the book, and activities 9-13 in the WKBK, pages 37 - 38.

le francais II  Semaine #2---le 10 au 14 mars

We will review briefly the uses of PC/IMP, then check the WKBK activities.  We will do Activities 14-15 together in class., and out of class assignment for mardi will be 17-20, pages 110-111. (Put this with act. 12 that was done for vendredi of last week.) We will also do the LAWKBK to practice the 2 tenses.  We will also get into new grammar involving the verb venir(re-, de-) and prepositions with geographical places.  Activities to be done will include act. 24 - 28, in the book, 16-19 in the WKBK.  Outside of class, please review the material daily, and as activities are done (oral or written) make sure you know how they translate and why the structure is used. Your chapter test will be next mardi...the project write up due mercredi.

le francais II  semaine #4---le 31 mars au 4 avril

We will start the week with a review of the compositions about your 2 destinations...Discuss the errors that were common, how to avoid, and assignment was given to make corrections, type or (retype) and turn in on jeudi (10 pts extra given if all corrected and typed!)  We will also begin the next chapter and the vocabulary list...We will go through it together and eliminate some of the more ovbious word or ones we've had before, but add additional meaning.  Assignment is to write the remaining words 3x with translations for mercredi...You are exempt from this is you have a 95 or above!  Also, please review the vocabulary in the context, be ready for translations to be done (quiz).  We will do the LAWKBK mardi, complete it mercredi, and then the WKBK for the vocab sections.  We will begin the second vocab lesson and practice it orally and in writing.  For both lessons you will do the book activities that follow the vcabulary pages.  At the end of the week, (possibly lundi) you will have a second vocabulary quiz (translation or fill in).  We will then begin the grammar of the chapter..relative pronouns 1st!  Qui, que, and qu' which connect ideas.

le francais II  Semaine #5  le 7 au 11 avril

We will start the week with a quick review of the Mots 2 vocabulary (quiz tomorrow) then look at the relative pronouns: qui and que (qu').  We will write sentences about classmates or school personnel using these after doing the book activities.  Homework will be the WKBK over theses pronouns.  (We will look at these in the past tense as well to see how changes come about on the past participles.)  WKBK activities will be assigned from pages 55-57.   At the end of the week we will work with negative expressions that start the sentences, nothing...and no one.  Book activities will be done over these grammar concepts # 9-11, 12-14, and 18 - 23.  WKBK activities will be 58 -59. Also at the end of the week you will be given sentences to translate from English to French over the structures.   Remember, if when there is not a written assignment , your homework is the practice of material covered in class!

le francais II  Semaine # 6 le 13 au 17 avril

We will finish grading the grammar review sheet that we started Friday.  I hope you took some time over the weekend to review the structures that had been giving you problems.
We will use the negative sentences that were gathered from the class to get more practice with the expressions"Nothing " and "No one"  You will also do the practice test that is at the end of the chapter...If it is not completed in class, make sure thast you have done it as it is another  good review  for the test which is mardi.  make sure you review the vocabulary too.  Once the test is taken Tuesday, we will work with a new tense...the future...although we have already had the easier "aller + infinitive "structure to indicate what is going to happen...I think you will actually like this tense!  There will be a project to complete for this chapter regarding what your life will be like in 2035!

le francais II  Semaine #7  le 22 au 25 avril

I will check the rough draft of the project mentioned above, then we will go over the questions that this project includes.  We will do a  review of the future tense...regular and irregular ones, with exercises on the board to work through.  Workbook will be assigned to practice the future tense, graded the next day (Wednesday).  Once it is checked in class you will have a review sheet for this new tense, and we will look at a tense (conditional) that ias a combination of the future stems(regular and irregular) with the imperfect endings (ais, ais, ait, ions, iez, and aient respectively.  2035 Furure project is due Thursday. This verb tense is translated as "would + verb".  It is used  to explain what would take place/ happen in a hypothetical situation..."If I were the president, I would...." or "They would not stay if they were sick," etc.  We will also review the uses of the imparfait, which will be used as part of the "formula" for hypothetical situation sentences.  Quiz over the future and conditional will be Friday. (know regular and irregular stems and the endings for future and conditional tenses. WKBK activities to be completed on conditional Act 9 and 10, page 77-78 For next week during the week of testing you will be working with 2 other grammmar points  before working through the vocab of chapitre 6.

le francais II  Semaine # 8  le 28 avril au 2 mai

This week wil be very fragmented due to standardized testing, but what we will work on while you are in class MWF will be the future and conditional when they are paired with the present and imperfect in "if and when clauses".  The workbook will be asigned and graded in class, we will practice the combinations, and go into the remaining grammar of the chapter.
Due to confusion of all the tenses together we did more drill with the variety of verb tenses,
on Friday and I will quiz you on the formation and translation of verb tenses (present, future, imperfect, and conditional) at the beginning of the class lundi.  Please take some quality time to review the grid with the verbs that we went over Friday!

le francais II  Semaine # 9  le 5 au 9 mai

We will start the week with the quiz over the different verb tenses, then we will review the use of the pronouns le, la, l', les, me, te, nous, vous, lui, and leur...we will look at how double and triple pronouns can be used in the sentences to make them "more sophisticated"
and much shorter.  At the end of the week we will begin the vocablulary which will involve food and preparing it.  Bring in one of your favorite recipes to share in French...the following week we will be eating!  You will also receive your final review vocabulary packets to begin your individual review.  We have covered too much this trimester (year) to wait until the last week in May.

le francais II  Semaine # 10  le 12 au 16 mai

We will start the week with a quick finish up of the double/triple pronouns...Remember if you plan to retake either quiz from last week , it will need to be done during SRT or study hall time. Please try to let me know at the beginning of the day today as to when you want to retake it.  Once we have gone over the remaining sentences from Friday, we will begin the food vocabulary!  I will first give you a sheet with previously learned(?) vocab to see what our base is, then we will practice Mots 1and 2 by repetition and the book activities.  Tuesday and Wednesday, we will practice the vocab more and do the WKBK, activities 1-4 page 63, and the AWBK, act.  1-5. For Friday, have a favorite recipe....you will translate it in class using the vocabulary from this chapter and the food chapter from FR I. You will also have to fill out answers for the questions that were on the board about food preferences and dislikes, what food you have in the fridge, freezer and cupboards  We will work with both vocab. lists/ structures needed to translate your recipe.  Recipe translation will be for end of the class,  unless you have a sport activity  reason for not being in class.  (Tuesday will be the quiz over the structures (pronouns) and vocabulary, unless we are unable to have class due to need for caferia cleanup- from the FL Festival, then we would move it to Wednesday)  Friday --no class due to Memorial day weekend (1/2 day only)
