I thought I would give the Web Page thing a try. So here goes.
Social Studies Curriculum
We will be working on creating questions about World War II to ask the veterans that will be visiting our class after the TAAS test.
We will also be learning about the Civil Rights Movement.
Reading Curriculum
All of the classes have read Number The Stars by Lois Lowery. We dicussed the meaning of friendship and what true friends do to help one another.
The novel that we are reading that goes along with the Civil Rights Movement is The Watsons Go To Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis. Most of the reading will be done in class with students responding in Literature Circles. In Literature Circles students have a different jobs daily relating to the chapter we have read and dicussed that day. Please ask your child what job they held that day, on occasion they will be able to bring those folders home so you may see their progress.
Please have your students read to you each night this will improve their oral reading fluency.

May 24 Fifth Grade Graduation and Celebration
