Mrs. Vickers 6th Grade Blue Knights Social Studies Classes Ancient Rome Web Project Description of the Project You will be working together with a group of students in class. Your group's task is to create a travelbook for Ancient Rome to share with the whole class. Task Part I: You will begin with everyone in your group getting some background information on Ancient Rome by going to the first website link listed below. Each member will take notes and answer several basic questions to familiarize themselves with Ancient Rome. 1. Who were the craftsmen and merchants? 2. Who was the goddess Minerva ? 3. One place people visited in their daily life was the forum. What is the forum? 4. What were the two forms of burial in ancient Rome? 5. What were the legal documents written on in Ancient Rome? Task Part II: 1. Select a role from the hat. 2. You are now that person (soldier, woman, child, senator, historian or builder) and are temporarily transported back in time to Ancient Rome by a time machine developed by Mrs. Vickers and Mrs. Krenicky. You are given several questions for which you must find the answers on your visit. Do not share these questions or answers with your group while you are traveling. You are traveling alone. You may not print anything out. You must take notes in your tablet. This is the only source for recording the information you gather. Remember to answer your questions. 3. When you are brought back from your brief visit you are brought together with the other members of your group. Share your questions and answers at this time with each other. You will then prepare a travel log with the members of your group of what life was like in Ancient Rome. Each member must contribute 5 different facts they found on their journey along with a picture. These facts will be put into a Power Point presentstion that will be presented to the class. Each group member will take notes on their own. Once this part of the task is completed each member will share their information and prepare a Power Point presentation in the form of a travelbook. (You will receive separate instruction for the preparation of the electronic book.) The travelbook will be presented in class.
