WELCOME TO MARKETING(Cooperative Class)!!
Marketing is the first year of cooperative training for juniors or seniors, who may have completed Fundamentals of Marketing class as well . Students study one class period in school and participate in on-the-job training experiences for a minimum of 396 hours during the school year. Students will be able to develop social and economic skills in conjunction with competencies in the areas of personal selling, advertising, visual merchandising, physical distribution, purchasing, market planning, and product/service technology which will help them become well-rounded employees. Marketing cooperative jobs allow students to practice the skills developed in the classroom and on the job under the supervision of local employers.
Resources for this class include computer programs and simulations, textbooks, study guides for each topic area, handouts, computer-generated tests, and student competency records of tasks performed.
If employed, students are graded by the employer from an individual training plan. Other assessments include projects, classroom participation, tests, and exams.
Marketing is keyed to the major objectives of the Virginia SOL=s for communication, math, and social sciences.
Students may elect to take the National Retail Foundation Customer Service test at the end of the year to become nationally certified.
Please see my updated syllabus and the Course Sequence and Pacing Guides for detailed information on this class.
