Weekly Pacing Guide
AHS Chorus is composed of students in grades 9-12. The chorus classes include:
- Chorus I Girls- beginning chorus, no audition necessary
- Chorus I Boys-beginning chorus, no audition necessary
- Chorus II Combined-must have completed Chorus I & must audition
- Chorus III & IV Combined- must have completed Chorus I & II & must audition
- Jazz/Madrigals- Combined Jr. & Sr. must audition & show outstanding talent & leadership
- Jazz SSA -Combined Jr. & Sr. must audition & show outstanding talent & leadership
Opportunities for audition for County, District, State & Honor's Choir:
- Sr. All County Chorus-all grades 9-12
- Jr. District Chorus-9th grade only
- Sr. District Chorus-10th,11th, & 12th grade chorus members
- All State Chorus- 11th & 12th grade chorus members
- Honor's Choir- Seniors only-must be a good sight reader

Performance requirements:
Since this is a performance class, every student is expected to attend all concerts.
2011-12 Daily Schedule
Period I Chorus I Boys & Chorus II
Period II Plan
Period III Jazz Choir A/B Day
Period IV Chorus III & IV
Period V Chorus I Girls
Exam:
50% of each exam grade is the written exam
50% of each exam grade is attendence of the concerts
Make-up work for missing a concert will be to write the text of each song by memory.
This must be done in class. All songs are sung from memory @ the concert so I am not asking any student to do more than another.
Lettering:
1. A student must maintain an A average for one year.
2. A student must audition for 2 of the auditioned events.
3. A student must maintain an excellent attitude 7 work for the improvement of the group.
4. The student must attend all scheduled performances.
Service bars are awarded each year after lettering.
9th graders are given a certificate if all requirements are met.
Honor Cords are given to seniors who have lettered 3 out of 4 years.
Grading:
- One credit is given for chorus each year as a Fine arts Credit.
- tests: 20%
- quizzes: 20%
- attendance: 30%
- class participation: 30%
Handbook:
Each student was given a student handbook including a date sheet for every event. Also, behavior, trip regulations, etc. are included. Please refer to this for further information.
Tutoring-
I am available for tutoring every day after school . I will gladly work w/student on audition songs or other music for concerts, musical, etc.
