Well, Spring Break is over (boo!!!) but on the bright side, we only have about 7 weeks of school left! (Yeah!) Our SOL exam is scheduled for 5/14, 5/15, and 5/17 depending on what block you have me. I will post this information on the Missing Assignment Board in the classroom in an effort to keep you informed.
We have started our last unit before the SOL exam. We will wrap this up by the end of this month. This will give us about two weeks to prepare and review for the SOL exam. So, with this in mind, here's what I have planned for the next two weeks.
Monday A day - 4/16 - Today we will work with square roots with homework to be workbook 10-3 22-26 even and workbook 11-1 2-40 even.
Tuesday B day - 4/17 - Today we will work with square roots with homework to be workbook 10-3 #22-36 even and workbook 11-1 #2-40 even.
Wednesday A day - 4/18 - Today we will solve quadratic equations by finding the square roots. Homework will be workbook 10-4 #2-40 even. We will also go to the computer lab today for the second half class. We will practice taking an sol exam on line to get used to the online format and online tools provided.
Thursday B day - 4/19 - Today we will solve quadratice equations by finding the square roots. Homework will be workbook 10-4 #2-40 even. We will also go to the computer lab today for the second half of class. We will practice taking an sol exam on line to get used to the online format and online tools provided.
Friday A day - 4/20 - Today we will use the Zero-Product Property to solve quadratic equations. Homework will be workbook 10-5 #35-52 all.
Monday B day - 4/23 - Today we will use the Zero-Product Property to solve quadratic equations. Homework will be workbook 10-5 #35-52 all.
Tuesday A day - 4/24 Today we will use the Quadratic Formula to solve quadratic equations. Homework will be workbook 10-7 #2-40 even. This wraps up our last unit before the sol.
Wednesday B day - 4/25 Today we will use the Quadratic Formula to solve quadratic equations. Homework will be workbook 10-7 #2-40 even. This wraps up our last unit before the sol.
Thursday A day - 4/26 Today we will review for the unit exam. Homework will be to study for the test.
Friday B day - 4/27 Today we will review for the unit exam. Homework will be to study for the test.
Monday A day - 4/30 Unit test today on solving quadratic equations. Homework will be to complete the packet on linear equations.
Tuesday B day - 5/1 Unit test today on solving quadratic equations. Homework will be to complete the packet on linear equations.
Wednesday A day - 5/2 Today we will go to the computer lab to take a practice SOL test. This will count as a quiz grade and will take all period. Homework will be a worksheet to practice skills learned earlier in the year.
Thursday B day - 5/3 Today we will go to the computer lab to take a practice SOL test. This will count as a quiz grade and will take all period. Homework will be a worksheet to practice skills learned earlier in the year.
Friday A day - 5/4 Today we will work with a released SOL test focusing on test taking strategies and remembering skills learned this year. Homework will be a worksheet.
Monday B day - 5/7 Today we will work with a released SOL test focusing on test taking strategies and remembering skills learned this year. Homework will be a worksheet.
Tuesday A day - 5/8 - We will continue working with released SOL tests focusing on test taking strategies and remembering skills learned this year. Homework will be another worksheet.
Wednesday B day - 5/9 - We will continue working with released SOL tests focusing on test taking strategies and remembering skills learned this year. Homework will be another worksheet.
Thursday A day - 5/10 - Today we will play a review game as this is our last day to review and prepare for the SOL. Homework will be to get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast the day of your exam.
Friday B day - 5/11 - Today we will play a review game as this is our last day to review and prepare for the SOL. Homework will be to get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast the day of your exam.
At this point, we will be following the SOL exam schedule.
This is what I have for now. Remember, you may call me in the evenings while you are working on homework should you get stuck and need a little help but don't call after 9:00pm. There is also free tutoring afterschool for Algebra students on Wednesdays and Thursdays with Mr. Simms from 2:30 to 4:00. You don't need to sign up ahead of time, just show up but make sure you have a ride at or before 4:00pm.
