I am a Reading Specialist and a member of the Literacy Team at Rhea Valley Elementary School. My teaching is carried out in small literacy groups in grades K-4. These groups usually have between 4 to 6 students who are reading on or near to the same level. We work on sight word recognition, reading strategies, and writing skills, daily. I plan lessons that coordinate with the classroom curriculum and SOLs.
      In some cases, I will work with individual students to improve their reading level. These lessons are designed to specifically target what each student needs to work on. Individualizing lessons in this way helps to speed up student progress.
