June Final Exam
Finals are soon approaching and it is time for review. This site contains information on the chapters covered in the course, suggested review activities and recommended web sites to be explored. Please keep checking the site as there may be updates and additions prior to June 8.

Exam Information:
(1) Oral Mental Math section
- Monday, June 4, 2001 (Day 3)
This section of the math exam will be administered during the regular class period on June 4. Students will be given an answer sheet and the mental math questions will be on overhead transparencies.

I will reveal the question on an overhead projector, read it aloud twice, wait 15 seconds, then the question will be covered.  You are NOT ABLE to view questions again. No work can be shown for the questions, i.e. no calculations or writing of any type can be placed on the answer sheet. If a student shows work for the question, no mark will be given.

The Oral Mental Math Examination is worth 8% of the exam. Key areas to study are statistics, algebra and geometry. Distribution of questions in this section are 7 Algebra, 6 Geometry and 3 Statistics.

AUTHORIZED MATERIALS:
- PENCIL and eraser ONLY!!!

(2) Written Examination
- Wednesday, June 13, 2001   09:00 - 11:30
Three themes are the areas of focus for this section of the exam: algebra, geometry and statistics. More emphasis will be placed on algebra and geometry, with smaller focus on statistics. Multiple-choice, short-answer and developed-response are the types of questions featured in this section.

Breakdown of the written examination:
- 23 questions distributed in 3 sections (11 algebra, 9 geometry and 3 statistics)
- Section 1: 9 multiple-choice questions
- Section 2: 7 short-answer questions
- Section 3: 7 developed-response questions (*In this section, the examination guide specifies the following: STUDENTS WHO DO NOT SHOW THEIR WORK WILL BE GIVEN NO MARKS FOR A CORRECT FINAL ANSWER IN THE DEVELOPED-RESPONSE QUESTIONS!)

AUTHORIZED MATERIALS:
- ruler, compass, set square, protractor
- graph paper
- scientific calculator with or without a graphic display
- * a personalized resource sheet (memory aid - course notes page)


*This memory aid is a letter-size sheet of paper on which a student will have recorded information on his or her choice. Both sides of the sheet may be used. Any mechanical reproduction of this memory aid is forbidden. The sheet that is to be used to prepare the memory aid sheet will be the purple sheet that was distributed May 23, 2001. ONLY THIS PAGE WILL BE PERMITTED DURING THE WRITTEN EXAM. IF YOU FORGET THIS PAGE AT HOME ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM, YOU CANNOT SUBSTITUTE WITH ANOTHER SHEET.
