NOVEMBER OBJECTIVE: TO READ AND UNDERSTAND SHAKESPEARE'S SONNETS AND THE PLAY HENRY V.
Go to useful links and click on the link titled Shakespeare "Open Source"
Students must read this play for at least 30 minutes per night beginning on November 3. Other plays and poems will be assigned. Students must memorize at least one Sonnet.

EACH WEEK FROM NOVEMBER 16TH TO DECEMBER 10TH: SUBMITTED EACH THURSDAY BY EMAIL
Select a poet, write a brief biography about that poet, and explicate one of his poems. (Of course, You may also choose a poetess.) You may select from any of the poets we have covered thus far: Shakespeare, John Keats, John Donne, or Robert Frost. You may choose from other poets also. Obviously, you must choose a different poet each week.

SPECIAL PROJECT DUE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 24TH:
Create a quatrain using iambic pentameter and the rhyme scheme of a Shakespearean Sonnet

SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT FOR J.H.S & H.S.(REQUIRED READING)
You are required to read and respond to one Great Book every four weeks beginning the week of November 16th 2009 and concluding on June 17th 2010. YOU WILL BE READING A TOTAL OF 8 BOOKS.


YOU MUST WRITE FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EACH NIGHT IN YOUR READING RESPONSE JOURNAL (MONDAY TO THURSDAY). YOUR WORK WILL BE CHECKED EACH THURSDAY OR FRIDAY.

NOTE: YOU MUST USE A SEPARATE NOTEBOOK FOR YOUR READING RESPONSE JOURNALS. USE A SPIRAL WITH PAPER THAT CAN BE EASILY REMOVED. PLEASE SHOW YOUR NOTEBOOK BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20 TH.
