FILM 1 & 2 HENGGE/SCHRAGER CLASS INFO & SUPPLY LIST

Film 1 & 2 is a High School Credit course. This is a rigorous class that many students find extremely rewarding and memorable…provided the student gives the effort and does the work! A successful Film student must demonstrate ability to: Meet deadlines, work co-operatively in groups, be dependable, be on time to class, attend regularly, employ what is learned into the filmmaking projects, work hard, try new strategies and be willing to make mistakes.

Required supplies:

1) A Film class dedicated FLASH DRIVE with 16 GB MINIMUM storage + Lanyard attachment Rationale: Students will be utilizing portable storage to save their projects. It is imperative that the flash drive must contain at least 16 GB of space as their projects will be large in size. The flash drive AND the lanyard should have the student’s full name, Film Teacher and period # written on it so that it is easily identifiable in the event it is left behind- which can happen in this setting.

2) A dedicated FILM notebook with pockets and loose-leaf paper + writing instruments.

Required supplies:

1) ADOBE PREMIERE 2018 (for home)

2) Access to film media for rental (i.e. Netflix/ Hulu/ Xfinity subscription, iTunes etc.) (for home)

3) Tripod, camera accessories

4) Camera/ smartphone

Our film program is in its 5th year and growing. We have a fair amount of tripods, clapboards, green screens and basic digital cameras as well as our wonderful editing suite with a computer for each student to use while on campus. We have purchased a license for the entire Adobe Creative Cloud Suite for the students to utilize while in school. The program is ADOBE PREMIERE 2018 (for editing). Students soon discover that editing can be a VERY LONG PROCESS and realize that having this software at home can be very beneficial since school time is limited. Many of our students utilize their own smartphones as their primary cameras. Additionally, there is an endless assortment of accessories the students may be interested in purchasing for their own use beyond what we have in our department (steady-cam stabilizers, jibs, lenses, etc.) We can provide a place to store this equipment of theirs when asked- but we cannot be held responsible for their items. In the event that a student is absent during the presentation of a film, it is the student’s responsibility to screen the film at home within an acceptable time-frame so that they may do the work/ take the quiz based on the film upon their return.

We look forward to a great 2018-2019 school year. We are planning many exciting events and we will be debuting our first ever FILM CLUB- Open to any Falcon Cove student interested. Sign up today!!!

See you at the movies!” – Mr. Hengge & Mrs. Schrager
