Question: WHY IS IT COLDER IN WINTER THAN SUMMER? A. The sun is farther from the earth. B. We have less daylight in the winter. C. The sun shines at a different angle in winter. Answer: The most correct answer is C. The sun shines at a different angle in the winter, summer, spring and fall. It has to do with the angle of the earth's axis and our layer of atmosphere. Additional Information: The sun is actually closer to earth in January than June. Because of the sun's angle, we have less daylight in the winter. These changes produce the seasons. Also, look at the poles when you spin the globe. Can you see why they have almost twenty-four hours of daylight at certain times of the year?
