Please follow the directions for beginning a Science Challenge.
Science Challenges
1. Look through the pink 3 ring binder of “Science Challenges.”
2. Choose one that interests you and that no one in your class has done. (only one can do each challenge)
3. Write your name in the “Sign Out’’ folder. (once you sign your name it becomes and assignment and can
count against you.
4. Bring the Sign Out book to Mr. Bergquist. He will
give you the sheet for the experiment that you chose.
5. All of your work is to be done at home.
6. When you present your challenge to the class you will
need to have the following. (you must have all three)
a) A model that you created,
b) A visual (poster with chart, graph, diagrams,
pictures, or a Powerpoint presentation,)
c) A bibliography on an index card of at least three
sources of information that you used during your
research.
7. Your Science Challenge must be presented 14 days before the end of the term. You need to tell Mr. Bergquist when you are ready to present so that he can schedule your presentation. Only two presentations can be scheduled each day so if there is no time left to present in the term you are out of luck.
8. You may do up to two science cahallenges each term. Each challenge can bring your grade up ½ of a grade if it is done well.
9. If you choose to role play a scientist you need to present it to the class or video tape the presentation at home and show the video to the class. The following web sites are sources of information about famous scientists from which you may choose. You need all of the same things for your presentation as well.
