Wecome to Culinary Arts. Students are enrolled in beginning or 2/3 advanced class. We use the Johnson and Wales text, CULINARY ESSENTIALS and the National Restaurant Association PRO-START texts. We also offer ServSafe Manager certification for students wishing to articulate to Culinary colleges / universities. This is a National Restaurant Association industry certification.

Our first Catering event this year was a breakfast for SHHS administrators.
Next, we did large cookie bags for all the custodians on our campus, and the technology staff for JC Schools. ( many assorted cookies )

The first FCCLA meeting was August 19, President Casey Hemphill. We have been meeting often. Officers were elected; we had a Fall / Halloween pizza party on Oct 31st at Mrs. Davison's home.

Homecoming for SHHS was Oct 2nd. The advanced class cooked and served soup and sandwich, with assorted desserts for the homecoming queen candidates and their Mothers.

Early Oct, we entertained / cooked with Exchange students from Venezula. We enjoed that so much that we hosted a going away luncheon for them. We made salads, fettuccine alfredo, desserts and more.

On Oct. 22nd, we hosted the Johnson City / Washington County Chamber - Leadership CLass - for a luncheon of chicken marsala, scalloped potatoes, green beans, yeast rolls, and several moth watering desserts. ( pumkin roll, cheesecake, peanutbutter chocolate chip pie ). We had lots of compliments!


Nov 4th/ 5th -the Beginning classes made Potato Yeast Rolls.

The Advanced class just completed a  catering project for Tipton Haynes Historical Site. This was their Nov Board Dinner. We prepared and delivered: homemade ranch and creamy Italian dressing, homemade yeast rolls, pumpkin rolls, fresh apple dapple cake, and chicken casserole. They had their Junior Board serve with salad and all of our food.

Sullivan University, Diane Wampler talked to students about career opportunities Nov. 11th.
