How to Find Scholarly Articles

What is a scholarly article?
A scholarly article has been published in a journal and is generally reviewed by a group of peers. These articles contain references to original research or to the research or publications of others in the field.

Use the Subject Guide to Online Resource to find the best databases for your topic

Hint: Use an asterisk for truncation i.e. teen*, adolescen*

Hint: Use quotation marks for phrases i.e. "substance abuse"

Hint: Use the word research as one of your keywords.

Academic OneFile is a large inter-disciplinary database that allows you to limit your search to scholarly journals and peer-reviewed articles as well as full text articles.

Citing an Internet Resource
To cite an internet resource, follow the template below:

Author or Editor’s Last Name, Author or Editor’s First Name (if given).”Title of Page or Article.” Title of Site. Name of Institution or Organization Associated With Site, Date of electronic publication or of the latest update (day month year). Web. Date of access (day month year).
