Your 12R research project is both expository and persuasive. Exposition has one main purpose: to inform or explain. Not only will you be informing and explaining your chosen charity, you will also be persuading people to get involved. Step 1: Select a Topic - One that is interesting to you Step 2: General Reading - Read some articles to determine if there is enough information to create a multi-genre product. Step 3: The Proposal - Including a catchy slogan, a purpose, and marketing outline. Step 4: Purpose/Temporary Thesis - A good thesis - Focuses on one well-defined idea - Makes an arguable assertion capable of being supported - Prepares your readers for the body of your project and foreshadows a conclusion Step 5: Choosing the Different Genres - Focused on your audience and makes use of repetends. Step 6: Bibliography Cards - Keep track of every source you use as you use it Step 7: Taking Notes - Clearly identify source (author, title) and page or paragraph number - Notes will be either direct quotes, or paraphrases - One idea or concept for each card. Step 8: Avoiding Plagiarism - Any ideas or information that are not your own need to be cited.
