Leach - AP Gov. Supreme Court Case Project Mrs. Daniels and Mrs. Spitzer
Cicero-North Syracuse High School School Librarians
http://nscsd.org
Task: You will be divided up amongst teams and assigned several Supreme Court Cases with a similar theme.

You and your group will research each case and create a summary on each for your classmates.

You will then choose 1 case and create a video about it. The video can be of any length. The premise of the video is that you are the Supreme Court Justices sitting in a conference room debating the points of the case. Your discussion should relate to the historical background of the case, the issue (in the form of a question) of the case, the impact the decision will have on society (both if it is implemented and not implemented), and finally what the decision will be. These videos will be shown in class.

Use the following resources to investigate each supreme court case.

EBSCO History Reference Center - tip - type in the name of the case in the first search box using v without a period. For example Marbury v Madison. Be careful of spelling and spell out the abreviations (United States instead of US) if your first search has no results.

Gale Virtual Reference Library  - includes such titles as Supreme Court Drama: Cases that Changed America, and the Encyclopedia of The American Constitution

ProQuest Historial Newspapers - Read articles about your Supreme Court case published in the New York Times from 1851-2007.

Oyez.org - Great online resourse - "The Oyez Project is a multimedia archive devoted to the Supreme Court of the United States and its work"
