SOUTHEAST ELEMENTARY LIBRARY MISSION STATEMENT To prepare each user of the Southeast Elementary community with the capabilities to succeed in their quest for information by providing access to information in all formats, instruction to foster interest and competency in using information, collaboration with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the information needs of each student, and to fulfill curriculum objectives. DIGGING THROUGH THE DECADES OK, SO HERE’S WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT…. This is your opportunity to find out what life was like in the “good ol’ days”! Just follow the steps in this guide to discover how your parents, grandparents, and great grand parents voted, dressed, ate, partied, etc. You will work in groups of two or three, dividing the work EQUALLY between you. Each person is responsible for turning in his or her portion of the project and each person will be graded individually. No “group grades” will be given. OK, SO HERE’S THE GUIDE…. Your “report” should include the following: 1. Presidents-Who were the U.S. Presidents in your decades? 2. Songs-What were some popular songs from your decades? 3. Wars-Were there any wars in your decades? Who was fighting and why? 4. Famous people-Who was famous? Why were they famous? 5. Fashion-What was the clothing like in your decades? 6. Inventions-What were some important inventions of your decades? Who invented them? 7. Children’s books-What were some popular children’s books from your decades? 8. Other interesting things-Tell about at least four more interesting things about your decades. 9. Visuals-include at least TEN visuals with your project. 10. Bibliography-Use at least THREE different resources and list them in the appropriate bibliographic format. OK, SO HERE IS HOW YOU WILL BE GRADED…. CONTENT=40 POINTS Well organized Accurate spelling Easy to understand Written in your own words (NO PLAGERIZING) Complete NEATNESS=10 POINTS Use black or blue ink or type your report VISUAL AIDS=30 Neat Colored Labeled At least ten BIBLIOGRAPHY=20 Correct format At least three sources
