May 2013 May is the month of Mary. The class discussed the similarities and differences describing Mary in Matthew Chapter 1 and Luke Chapters 1 and 2. We also constructed a timeline of her life, marking the significant moments she experienced throughout her journey. Lastly, we made the assumption that Mary was the first disciple if Jesus because she was the first person to know that he was the messiah. Thoughout her life, she encouraged and helped others follow him. By examining the four stories in the gospels (The Visitation, The Visit from the Sheppard, Wedding at Cana, and The Crucifiction of Jesus) the class was able to understand, through the actions of Mary, the sacrifices necessary to be a disciple of Jesus.
