February 13, 2012 Welcome to a new week. It was nice to see many of you last week for conferences. I look forward to seeing the rest of you on Wednesday this week. This is a short week here at Crosby, but it is packed with activities. See the dates below for details on the many happenings. This week in mathematics we will begin a unit on data analysis. We will focus this week on the measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) and on the range of data. The blue group will also be doing a project with circle graphs. We will also be going to the computer lab to work on ALEKS on Tuesday and Thursday. In science we will begin a new unit on weather. This week we will focus on the atmosphere and the carbon cycle. In language we are working on a creative writing assignment which includes writing that appeals to the senses. Have a wonderful week and Happy Valentine's Day. Wish list: We will be having indoor recess a lot because of the winter temperatures. Our classroom is in need of some indoor recess games. Do you have any old games that you could donate? I am also in need of centimeter graph paper and clean egg cartons. Monday: Tuesday: Valentine's Day party 1:45-2:45 Wednesday: Conferences Thursday: Board Meeting at Crosby Elementary Friday: No school (Conference release day) Spelling Words for this week: No new words this week. Thank you, Mrs. Silber
