The Garden City Junior High SIT, is certainly the group to join this year. Many exciting and wonderful things are taking place that need your input and expertise!
We are currently working on updating the school goals and objectives, as well as MEAP strategies. As no suprise to staff, we continue to research and investigate switching to a middle school concept. The team has recently given a brief overview of what has been gathered and future plans to the school board curriculum committee. This was a well received presentation with lots of enthusiasm and questions from board members and CO personnel. The team is currently exploring the possibility of a consultant coming to work with our school to develop a plan that would best suit our needs, both staff wise and financially. There are also plans in the works for more on-site visitations of middle schools in the area, focusing on teaming approaches, block scheduling, working with special ed. and elective teachers.
These are our current agenda items, but we are always looking for other topics to discuss and bring to staff attention.
Everyone is always welcome to attend any meeting and participate in the lively discussions and partake of the gourmet snacks and beverages provided.
