2008 is here and things are moving quickly! The children will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Wednesday, January 23rd. Also, we will have a visit from the Lee Richardson Zoo on Monday, January 28th. They will bring animals for the children to look at and pet and will be discussing all kinds of facts about animals. It should be a wonderful learning experience for the children.
READING NEWS:
The children are sounding out words, reading simple text and reading sight words! They are progressing well! We will continue to introduce new sight words, and will be increasing the difficulty of the text they are reading in order to give them practice sounding out those words!
They are writing sentences weekly and are saving them for a book they are making for the Author's Tea. They are figuring out how to space words and how to make their own sentences using "invented spelling." Some of the children are really taking off with this and some are still trying to gain confidence! We will continue to practice this regularly.

HELP WANTED: We are in need of items for our Kinderstore! If you have small toys or items that you are ready to give away, please remember us! Toys from fast food restaurants are perfect things for the Kinderstore. But we also take bigger items -- the children have to save up their tickets for the big stuff! Thanks!
