My next article is going to be in the Sports Section.I am writing about the McLean High School's soccer team.My first interview is going to be with Wagner, who is the varsity soccer coach. My second interview will be with a soccer player that has played last year in the team. My third interview will be with a player who will try out for the team this year. I am going to write about the tryouts that is coming up and what Wagner thinks about the team.

                 McLean Soccer Tryouts

Even though soccer is not much a popular sport in the Untied States. It is one of the favorite sports in the world. McLean High School’s soccer team being the district champion last year I pretty high quality this year.

“We have many freshman players that are eager to play soccer in the team this year.” Coach Wagner says, “ We have started conditioning, while other teams just think about their soccer season this year. None of the teams have started practicing,” stated coach Wagner during his Practice. He reminded this to his players every practice to make them excited for the season.

Jose Otero is a freshman that is eager to get in to the soccer team. “I can’t wait till the tryouts are over, I just want to go and get it over with.” Jose says. Jose says that the JV team will be really competitive to get in to because there are many new players that are trying out this year. “I don’t worry much, I will just go out there and do the best I can.” Jose says.  Because Jose attended to many conditioning practices it won’t seem to him that running that they will do during the tryouts will be much difficult for him.

Otero does not like the Coach that much, “ he says that he is making him not want to get in to the team, but I will ignore him and continue with my thing.” he states. Jose says that the coach always seems himself like he is the best of all and knows everything.

Jonathan Garcia is one of the freshman players and he is looking forward to the tryout day. He says he will make the team for sure. “ Even though I did not come to any of the conditionings, I think I will make the team because I have the skills.” Jonathan says.” Coach called me and told me to get the papers I need for the run-athon.” He stated.

Run-athon is a part of the tryouts; a person has to have 15 sponsors to join this race. Every sponsor should give you at least 10 cents per lap. Every player who attends the Run-athon should run as much as he can and when he walks he is out of the Run-athon. The purpose of the Run-athon is to give an opportunity to the players to collect money and buy their soccer items, if they make the team.

Try-outs begin on Monday, February 11th, with the Agility Test. We continue with the two–mile run on February 13th and another agility test on February 15th.  Another two-mile run on 18th, an agility test on the 20th and the run-athon on the 23rd will end the tryouts.

First practice of the year will begin on February 25th. McLean High School team is looking forward to this year, and expecting a successful year. They would like to see the fans fill up the seats to watch their games.

             FCPS Building Larger Classes

Do you have trouble understanding things in class, but don't get to ask the teacher because you don't have enough time?  Well it might get worse soon.  Due to the current recession, the Fairfax County might increase the size of classes. This would happen because Fairfax County Superintendent Daniel Domenech plans a $1.6 billion budget for spending for the upcoming year.  This is because of the amount of students coming into the county.  This is just over a nine percent increase over last year.

I interviewed Mr. Nothingham, my history teacher, who I thought was involved with this topic. Mr. Nothingham was a principal at an elementary school before he came to McLean High School. I asked him what he thought about the change that will be made soon. “Well…”  he said and he continued “I think that the Fairfax County should put more money in to education. But I would not like to have more then 25 students in my classroom. I would not like to have larger classes. And I really think that I the teachers think the same way I do.” he said.
Mr Nothingham also mentioned about listening to every student in the classroom and, how to talk to them individually. He said that it would not be easy to get a larger class’s attention. “It would also be difficult to spend time with each student and answer every student’s questions in the classroom.” He said thoughtfully.  He also pointed put how he had to copy extra papers and hand them out. When I asked him if he needed any teacher in the classroom to help him out, he said he didn’t really thought about it.
I thought that it would help me if I got to talk with some students about this new project too. So I went to my friend’s house. His name is Cihan , he is a night grader in Fairfax High School. I asked him similar questions that I asked to Mr. Nathingham. I asked hi if he prefers larger classrooms. Without even thinking he said, “ Yes I would. If we had larger classes, I could have more opportunities to meet new people.
I asked him if he cared about the money that Fairfax County will spend. He didn’t really care, he thought that if it had to be done then, it had to be done.
Cihan says that he does want another teacher in the classroom because he says that it would make learning more fun and much easier to understand the subject. He stops for a moment then he continues, “Learning is more fun when you have two teachers trying to teach one classroom. Different ideas can be produced. As he goes back to his homework, I leave his house.
Dominic Bonaiuto, he wrote an article about the classes getting
larger in FCPS. After emailing him once I finally got to talk to him on the phone. As soon as we started the conversation I ask him about how he feels about the change that is coming up. He says,  “ I think it’s for the good of the students and the education that they are getting. I am totally thinking that they should larger the classes, if they need to. I asked him about the money that FCPS is about to pay for this project and I remind him about the recession that FCPS is in right now. He answers, “ I do not think too much about how much money is going for this new classes. As long as it is good for the education it is okay. Because today’s generation will be the leaders of 30 years later, we do need them to be educated.”

I ask him what he thinks that the students think about this project. He tells, “As you said they don’t care much about it. I mean its not that they should but they should have an idea of what is going on around their world. As I say thank you to Mr. Dominic, I tell the students to ask as much questions as they can to their teacher now so that they wont have any troubles in the future.

I interviewed Mr. Nothingham, my history teacher.

Anil-What do you think about the change?
Mr. Nothingham- Well…I think that the Fairfax County should put more money in to education. But I would not like to have more then 25 students in my classroom.
Anil-Would you like to have larger classes or not?
Mr. Nothingham-No I would not like to have larger classes. And I really think that I the teachers think the same way I do.
Anil-How would the changes affect you?
Mr. Nothingham- I have to hand out extra papers and it is harder to get the attention in a class where there are many student.
Anil-Would you like an extra teacher to control a larger classroom?
Mr. Nothingham- I don’t really think that I would need an extra teacher. But it is good to think about it. I will say maybe.

My second interview is with one of my friends from Fairfax High School.

Anil-Would you prefer a new, larger classroom?
Cihan- Yes I would. If we had larger classes, I could have more opportunities to meet new people.
Anil- Do you care about the money that FCPS will spend?
Cihan- If it has to be done and if it is for good reason, no I would not care much about the money.
Anil-Would you like to have an extra teacher in your classroom?
Cihan-It is kind of hard to tell at the moment, because I want a teacher to take his/her time to teach the whole class.
Anil- Why is it so hard to tell?
Cihan- It is hard because on the other side if you really want to learn and not waste your time, you might need an extra teacher. It makes the class much better.
Anil-What do you mean by much better?
Cihan-Better, as in learning is more fun when you have two teachers trying to teach one classroom. Different ideas can be produced. It makes the subject

Interview # 3

I interviewed  Dominic Bonaiuto who wrote an article about the classes getting
larger in FCPS.

Anil- After writing an article about this, how do you feel about FCPS getting its classes larger?

Dominic- I think it’s for the good of the students and the education that they are getting. I am totally thinking that they should larger the classes.

Anil-Don’t you care about how much money is being paid for new classrooms?

Dominic-FCPS is one of the richest counties in the United States so I do not think too much about how much money is going for this new classes. As long as it is good for the education it is okay. Because today’s generation will be the leaders of 30 years later, we do need them to be educated.

Anil-Are you planning of doing more researches more about this subject in the future?

Dominic- Absolutely, infect I am working on right now about when the project is going to be started and when it is going to end.

Anil- How do you think that students are looking at this project? I mean I have talked to many students and they are okay with this. Have you talked or interviewed any students?

Dominic- Yes I did. I interviewed a student from Langley. But as you said they don’t care much about it. I mean its not that they should but they should have an idea of what is going on around their worlds.

Anil- Okay.. Mr. Dominic thank you for taking your time. I am looking forward to read your next article.

Dominic- Thank you…(laughs)
