As I said in the video, there aren't masses of lessons on the usage of the past subjunctive, because most of the uses are the same as we have just gone through with the present subjunctive. So, in this exercise, there's a little bit of everything: emotion, doubt, persuading etc. It's always a good idea to think about English sentences that need the subjunctive in Spanish, because the faster you can think of this, the quicker your translations will be.
