HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME!
You have successfully found OUR CLASS WEB PAGE for the 2001-2002 school year for Social Studies 8/ Mrs. McGough.
You're off to a great start already!
ALL ABOUT ME, YOUR TEACHER:
Lake Shore Middle School is going through many changes beginning this school year and I am happy to say that I am one of them! I come from Gowanda Junior/Senior High School where I have taught for two years. In Gowanda I taught Global History- Grade 9, Social Studies- Grade 7, and Social Studies Academic Intervention for grades 9-12. I am currently working to obtain my Masters Degree in Social Studies Education from the University at Buffalo. I am also studying for a Certificate in Advanced Technology from UB. While working for this advanced certificate, I have learned many ways to use the technology and the Internet in our classroom so that you get the most out of what's out there!
I have a great love for history and will work each day to instill some of that feeling into you too!
WHAT WILL OUR CLASS BE LIKE????
I teach in both a traditional and a nontraditional way. Meaning: You will be reading and writing in class with activities like "Dear Home" letters, diary entries, obituaries, (scary, huh??), and poems. But you will also be working on technology based (computer/Internet) projects and activities. A few examples are web quests, scavenger hunts, and different review games like the ones listed below!
**PLEASE CLICK A FEW OF THE GAMES AND SITES BELOW TO GET A HEAD START ON SOME OF THE STORIES WE WILL BE INVESTIGATING THIS YEAR IN OUR CLASSROOM.*** These are good summer brain-teasers (now that you're off that lawn chair...) CLICK on this site for answers to those quiz questions...http://www.historyplace.com
If you would like to use Google to search the web for terms from our class, you can start right here!
