martes, 12/12: Use the 5 x 8 index cards to write small all of the following: present tense verb endings/translation; present progressive formation with estar and “ando, iendo, yendo”; preterite tense verb endings/translations/visual of dot on a continuous line; irregular preterite roots from Spanish II and irregular set of endings—my students from last year had a hand out on this on white paper with colored highlighting; imperfect tense verb endings/translations/visual of continuous line into infinity (ir, ser, ver only irregulars); present perfect/translation of “haber” chart/formation of past participle/irregular participle list; reflexive, direct, indirect, and object of preposition pronouns charts. Students who had me last year have some idea how I want this. Leave room on the back for other things for the year.

miércoles, 3/1: Lab Day 265--get headset and plug in to USB port, keep track of which one you use in your planner and use that one all the time; click on the Soloist icon on your desktop, enter your first name once the box comes up--Plan 1--directed dialog for 20 pts. oral rubric; Plan 2--open dialog to include key bullet points for 40 pts. oral rubric--Do NOT plan to memorize your part...if your partner messes up, you have to be able to respond to them and complete the situation, like a natural conversation--plan to rehearse your part and what to include to accomplish the task--you will use the situation card as a guide, like in prior years when there were oral tests with textbook situation cards--you are graded on what you say

jueves, 4/1: run through dialogs; grade dialogs--comments on strengths and weaknesses as a whole--ask: Did the group complete the task? Could you understand the group despite errors? Were there any serious errors that confused formal/informal, gender, person? Did the conversation seem natural and use appropriate phrases to interject or buy think time if needed vs. absolute dead spots of silence?

January--weather is getting crazy, so I will be posting a weekly to do list of what to study and what will be outside work for the week:

We have completed study guide through 288 (red) and workbook 151-153 and 158. We have updated syntax notes for WEIRDO, we are working on sorting verbs by the WEIRDO memory hook, and we are working on review of all tenses learned and general syntax.
Webcodes, Quizlet 8A and 8A a ver si recuerdas are good sources of review.

Week of 1/22-1/30: We will complete text p.p. 408-417, including cultural points and developing an ongoing list of travel advice both general and area specific. We have completed all study guide areas we will need for the text activities to 417. Workbook 155-156 for Wednesday, 159 workbook for Friday. We will have discussed modes of travel and types of travel for students.

martes, 23/1: verb tense shift practice--dice game--take saved work--choose 3 verbs from each set and write a sentence with trigger words and sufficient context to know what the word means; prewrite stage of Type 3-4 story using picture cues--establish setting, context; time, tenses; characters; problem/solution ideas---30 pts

Week of 1/31: We will complete Ch. 8A, including the content on p.p. 434 and 437 of the text. We will also get a list of common irregular "yo" present tense verbs. There will be a test on this material  Wednesday, 2/7. There is no lab day that day. Everyone should be building a running list of travel advice covered in class in Spanish, using the subjunctive. So far, our list is general, except what we have gotten about Ecuador. Project Work will start this week. All Project Work--must be in OneDrive and shared with me and your group if you are in a group.

     Be sure to have completed study guide p. 289, workbook p.p. 157 and 159, audio yellow pages
          147-151, and communication activities 182- 186.
Week of 2/5--Test on 8A and p.p. 434, 437 of WEIRDO and WEIRDO syntax notes--Wednesday, 2/7. We will address p.p. 434 and 437 in the text and add to notes. We will continue with our general and now area specific lists of travel advice. We will work on projects for travel and stories this week. We will start heavily into 8B next week. We will have completed 8A audio activities, and stapled writing handouts 152-3, and 155.
