Reading passage written for year 12-13 students in NZ

Dear Japanese teachers in NZ,
This is a rewritten reading passage for year 12-13 students studying Japanese. I would like to invite NZ teachers to use this as you like for example, adding questions for reading/writing speaking practice, NCEA preparation and so on.
The links below are relevant to the material and are very interesting. There are lots of possible uses to go with NZ curriculum.
You might like to get your students to write a letter to the duo, compare the small local school with another school (your school, another Japanese school whatever), compare the elder singer with his young brother, describe how they look like by showing them their photos, analyse why they are so popular in Japan, talk about what they think about what is happening in their future etc.

Summary of the story:
A duo of brothers of 13 and 15 olds is now very popular among young Japanese people in Japan. They were born in Shizuoka that is famous for Mt Fuji and moved to Sado, an island in the Japan Sea. Their father loves Japanese folk music which was very popular in Japan in the 70's influenced by western music including the Beatles, Bob Dylan and so on. Inspired by his father, Ryuunosuke (elder boy) became interested in composing music and playing the guitar. Then his young brother Naojiroo joined him and became a vocalist in the duo. Their career as singers started when they took part in a local event to celebrate the year 2000. Now, they are very busy having concerts, being interviewed, appearing on TV etc. This March, they were invited to a tiny local junior school in an island off Kagoshima (the second southern-most prefecture in Japan) for a graduation ceremony. All the students got excited at having very popular young singers of their age at their own school and they had a wonderful time. It was very special for the duo, too. Because the elder boy, Ryuunosuke, actually graduated from a junior school this month.

日本の人気兄弟歌手(にんききょうだいかしゅ)が いなかの中学校で 卒業(そつぎょう)ライブ!!!!!
日本の学校は ４月に始まって ３月におわります。だから ３月は そつぎょう式の きせつです。鹿児島(かごしま)の小さな島にある中学校では 今年 とてもとくべつな そつぎょうしきが ありました。人気のある兄弟の歌手が そつぎょうしきのために 来てくれたのです。
その兄弟歌手の名前は「平川内一丁目(ひらかわちいっちょうめ)」といいます。変な名前だと思うかもしれませんが、これは ほんとうの名前で、この兄弟が うまれて育った 静岡県(しずおかけん)にあるばしょの 住所です。この兄弟は 今は 佐渡(さど)という日本海(にほんかい)にある島(しま)に 住んでいます。兄は龍之介(りゅうのすけ)で中学三年生、弟は直次郎(なおじろう)といって中学一年生です。
兄が音楽(おんがく)をつくって、弟がうたいます。かれらは２００３年の１１月にデビューしました。彼らのはじめてのＣＤの「東京」は 五万枚も 売れました。
彼らの音楽(おんがく)について、ある高校生は 「彼らの音楽を聞くと とても静（しず）かな気持（きもち）に なります。はじめて 聞いたとき、自分（じぶん）が思っていることと 同じことを 歌っているのでびっくりしました。それから ＣＤを 買って、聞いて、歌のことばの深(ふか）さに とても感動(かんどう)しました。」と 言いました。
日本では １９７０年代に フォークソングが とても人気がありました。彼らのお父さんは フォークソングが大好きで 龍之介(りゅうのすけ)に ギターのひきかたを 教えたり、いろいろな 歌を 聞かせたりしました。彼は はじめは ほかの人が作ったゆう名なフォークソングを ひいていましたが、すぐに自分の 歌も 作りはじめました。
そして ２０００年には 弟も 兄といっしょに 音楽をはじめ、 佐渡（さど）の２０００年カウントダウンのイベントに 出てとても ゆうめいに なりました。それからは、日本のいろいろな場所（ばしょ）で コンサートをしたり、ストリートライブをしたりしています。
兄の龍之介(りゅうのすけ)は 家族(かぞく)が とても 大切(たいせつ)だということを 歌を聞く人に わかってほしいと 思ってます。「平川内一丁目」という名前も、小さい時のいい思い出を大切（たいせつ）にするために つけました。
弟の直次郎(なおじろう)のクリスタルのような声(こえ)を聞いて たくさんの人が ファンになりました。愛知県(あいちけん)に住む１０才のある男の子は テレビで何度も この兄弟を見て 好きになりました。そして、お正月にもらったお年玉(としだま)を つかって 彼らのＣＤを買ったそうです。
彼らの 新しいＣＤが ２月１８日に でました。「桜(さくら）の隠（かく）す分（わ）かれ道」というそつぎょうの歌です。平川地一丁目は ３月１４日に 鹿児島県(かごしまけん)の小さな島にある海陽中学校(かいようちゅうがっこう)という学校で そつぎょうライブを しました。この学校はとても小さい学校で、そつぎょう生は６人だけでした。
島には 高校がありませんから、彼らはそつぎょう後は 高校に行くためにりょうしんと はなれて 島を出なければなりません。そんな小さな島に 遠いところから 人気のある中学生の歌手(かしゅ)が 来て、 いっしょうけんめい歌を 歌ってくれたので そつぎょう生も 一年生と 二年生も、先生も みなとても よろこびました。
龍之介(りゅうのすけ)も この３月に 中学を そつぎょうしました。このすばらしい兄弟の歌手（かしゅ）は これからも みなに いい音楽を 聞かせつづけてくれることでしょう。
