Mr. Simpson's Class Important Happenings:
We've jumped into our unit in matter and will test on chapter 10 Tuesday, May 6th. The studyguide will be given out Wednesday, April 30th and be due that Friday. After Chapter 10, we will expand upon light and sound. We've already covered each in Hands On Science and/or in-class activities. There will be no tests for sound or light, but we will have a few shorter quizzes. Finally, "the big tests" are right around the corner. We'll use the coming weeks to not only to finish our curriculum, but to also start to review for "the tests."
Mrs. Newell's Class Important Happenings:
We are heading into the last major activities of the year. Thursday, May 22, the students will take their final "TEST" on Sound. We will have a review Bingo game on Wednesday, May 21. The Science SOL test will be given on Friday, May 30. It will be the last of 3 fifth grade tests that start on Wednesday, May 28. After the SOL testing we can take a little breath, but we must complete some work before the year is over. I have a few hands on activities I saved until after testing. We will be dissecting owl pellets and spewing soda with mentos. Please impress upon your children the importance of being rested for the three days of testing. They have worked hard this year and are capable of doing well. They must just take their time and focus on the test. It's hard to believe this year is almost over. I feel like we have enjoyed a successful academic year. Thank you for all your support.
