Welcome to our Waukesha South High School History Day page. History Day is a research contest in which over 500,000 middle and high school students participate in all 50 states. Each year a different annual theme is selected and the 2009 theme is "THE INDIVIDUAL IN HISTORY: ACTIONS AND LEGACIES." Students do high level research involving primary sources and develop meaningful, interesting and creative ways to share their findings. The format choices are historical papers, original performances, media (power point and video documentary), display projects AND WEBSITES. IMPORTANT DATES TO PUT ON YOUR CALENDARS: Feb. 17 Regional contest registrations and fees are due. Papers are due , too. Mar. 7 (Saturday) Southeast Regional Contest at UW-Milwaukee. 1st and 2nd place entries in each category advance to state contest. May 2 (Saturday) Wisconsin HIstory Day Finals. UW- Madison. Ist and 2nd place entries in each category advance to national finals. June 14-18 National HIstory Day Finals. University of Maryland at College Park. Ready for super-sizing your classroom project! We have a package of materials for you and it's time to dig deeper and create something fantastic. The School District of Waukesha had approved and will financially support entrants who qualify for the National Level Contest in June!
