    Narrative speeches:  2-3 minute story with a point
    Demonstration speech:  3-5 minute demonstration of
                            how to do something
2-28 Informational speech:  3-5 minute speech on a famous
                           person.  Three references
                            mentioned in the speech.
3-12 Informational speech 2: 3-5 minute speech on a topic
                            of your choice, but NOT a
                            person.  Use a visual aid. ( A
                            poster of some sort) 3

3-29 Persuasive speech:  3-5 minute speech which attempts
                           to persuade us to your point of
                           view on an issue of your choice.
                           No abortion or gun control
                           speeches,please.

 4-19   Oral Interpretation of a poem:  select a published
                     poem of 14-20 lines to read to the
                     class.  Prepare an introduction stating
                     title, author, and why you chose the
                     poem. 

 4-25  Readers Theater  In groups.  Present a Readers
                      Theater interpretation of a script
                      from the class collection
  5-1 (5th)
  5-3  (3rd)    Readers Theater 2   In groups.  Present
                       a Readers Theater performance of a
                       script that your group has developed
                       from a short story.



 5-16   Power Point presentation  Compose a Power Point
                     presentation to serve as a visual aid
                     for a 5-7 minute speech.  You may do a
                     persuasive or informational speech. 
                     You should have 15-20 slides including
                     some pictures and special effects.
 5-29  Pro-con "debate"   Choose a partner and a 
                     controversial topic.  There should be
                     two definite sides.  Each partner
                     chooses one side.  Present a 5 min.
                     speech supporting your position.  Then
                     prepare a 2 minute rebuttal of your
                     partner's position.
  6-6/7 Final speech  A 5-7 minute speech on your choice of
                     topic/ your choice of type  (no
                     narratives).  This is your final exam.

6-19 (5th period)  TV Newscast:  15 minute presentation of
              news (group project)
