Assignments for May 7-10 I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. Hopefully everyone is feeling refreshed and renewed and ready to tackle the rest of the school year. Monday: Students will deliver their extemporaneous speeches that they researched in class last week. They will need to have an introduction, a set-up (also known as forecasting or signposting), examples with personal application, and a conclusion. Wednesday: Students will continue with the delivery of their extemporaneous speeches from last time as time dictates. Students will then take a test over the elements of specialized speech in Chapter 16 and in the chapter over the same in the public speaking book we have been using in class. Students will then be introduced to oral interpretation. Friday: Students will continue with oral interpretation and be given the elements which need to be included in the delivery of one. They will watch some examples of how I would like these to be delivered through a video of former students giving theirs. This is all in preparation for the oral interpretation which they will do for their final speaking experience. A worksheet involving how to cut a poem and/or a piece of literature will be given out to work on in class. Have a great weekend! We are down to the final couple of weeks, so don't get lazy in your preparations now! You can do it!
