Review Logs The purpose of a review log is to provide focus on several important aspects of a literary work you have read and studied. Here's how to set up a review log for AP English Literature: 1. Center the title of the literary work at the top of the page. 2. Make a list of all significant characters and their primary traits. 3. List important symbols in the work. Briefly explain their significance. 4. List the work's major themes. Tell why they are important. 5. List five quotable quotes from the work. Make them brief, memorable, and useful. 6. List significant style elements apparent in the work. Style elements have to do with how an author expresses ideas, establishes characters, relates events, etc. What important or unique techniques does the author use? You should be able to list the above items on one page. Remember that your review log should be concise. You should be able to consult it to refresh your memory quickly about many of the significant aspects of a literary work.
