Welcome to Literature Circles!
This class is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and will be held on Wednesdays from 12:30 - 1:30. This is a Pass or Fail course.
PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS MATERIALS TO READ FOR THIS CLASS See below.
IMPORTANT: Students may bring in a small pillow on Wednesdays to our elective, so that they can get comfortable for reading and discussing.
Update for Wednesday, 09-22, students should be finishing at least one of these four novels by now. We will be working in class on Powerpoints or on Google Docs to present our book 'reviews' to the class. This will begin when a student completes the novel. Students will be given a template. These will not be graded, as this is a pass or fail course.
We currently have 27 students enrolled in the class. We have separated into 4 groups, depending on interest and book selection. As a group we narrowed down our first 'read' and students were instructed to select one of the following books and come prepared for Wednesday's class, August 25:
When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead, the 2010 Newbery Winner. 
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling, Book One in the series 
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, Book One in the series 
Every Soul a Star by Wendy Mass
