This site will contain information on the requirements for your state report.  The first task and set of directions are found below.  The next part of the project is a Webquest site.  Please go to the links section of the web page and follow the directions.  Please see Mrs. Cole or Mr. Dinsdale if you have any questions.


State project guidelines

You may choose from the following three projects.
Other projects may be considered with prior approval.

A. Build a model of a monument from your state.
It can be one that you have created, or you may recreate one already in existence.
A monument is a memorial stone or a building erected in remembrance of a person or event.
Describe your monument?
Why did you choose this particular monument?
What significance does it have for the state?

Choose 1. If you invented this monument, write a paragraph reflection of its construction. What do you like about this monument? What worked well/didn’t work well?  What might work best next time?

or 2. If this monument is in existence...
What do you like/not like about this monument?
How do you think the construction went for the architects/builders who put up this monument?
What changes would you have suggested in its construction?


B. Create a replica of a state or National Park located in your state.

Include:
*A map key-
ex:   bodies of water
Rest areas
Forests
Mountain ranges
Sites of interest
Anything else?

*Activities that can be done at the park.

Please include a reflection /summary about your park.

*In your opinion, what are the best parts (scenery, activities, wildlife, etc.) of the park and why?
*What are some things about the park that you don't like and why?
*What are some things to keep in mind when visiting this park and why?
