ANCIENT EGYPT
6th GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
CHAPTER 4

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this unit is to explore the ancient Egyptian culture and to facilitate the use of the internet as a learning tool for the 6th grade class.
STANDARDS:
Social Studies 8.4.1
Students will compare selected river civilizations such as Egypt, Mesopotamia etc.

PROJECTS:
Choose one of the following to do after you have finished exploring these internet sites.
- After you have visited the tombs of the Pharaohs (like King Tuts), illustrate and describe what you would like buried with you in your tomb if you were a pharaoh.
- Create a time line of the Pharaohs studied in your text . Add any others that you studied about on the internet.
- Make a map of Ancient Egypt. Add sites of interest.
- Draw a cross section of a pyramid showing the burial chamber, store rooms and false entrances,etc. Write a description of each.
- Make a cartouche using hieroglyphics.
