Homework
September 8, 2008
Dear parents,
I would like to say how much I'm enjoying this year's class. My new students have been catching on to the new routines very quickly. I'm so impressed each day. I know this will be a fantastic year!
I'm really looking forward to Back to School Night this coming Tuesday. I look forward to meeting everyone and giving you the "run down" on how we do things here in first grade. I have received several questions regarding volunteering, our routines, and behavior/homework policies in first grade, so please be sure not to miss this night, where all these topics will be addressed.
I want to thank everyone again for turning in the homework packets on time again this week. Please remember to have your son/daughter write in what book was read on each night, and not to leave that space blank. Also, many students have been rushing through their penmanship pages, which result in incorrect and messy letter strokes. It is imperative that students first trace over the letters given on the page, and then neatly and carefully practice on their own.
Our first service project is well underway. St. Lawrence Elementary School is collecting school supplies for children in Mexico. I know that there are some really good deals on school supplies now in the stores. Any contribution made is a blessing and is very helpful to those who can't afford it. I've also listed the service projects coming up for the rest of the school year, so as to give everyone a "heads-up". I know that it helps me with my organization and planning if I know what's coming up around the corner.
Again, thank you all for your support, and please let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ms. van Dalen
