supplyletter Mohawk 8 Supply Letter
August 2001

Dear Parents:

Welcome to Mohawk 8. We are looking forward to meeting you and working with your child. We realize that many of you like to shop for school supplies during the late summer sales, so we have compiled a list of items your child will need for classes.

-Four composition notebooks (Math, LA Science, and Social Studies)
-Three 3-ring binders (LA, Social Studies, Math)
-Assorted pocket folders (including 1 homework folder for Science)
-6-topic folders (pocket folders with inner clasps to hold papers -- Science)
-One compass (Math)
-One ruler with metric and inch markings (Math and Science)
-One protractor (Math and Science)
-Assorted magic markers
-Number 2 pencils
-Colored pencils
-Graph paper (Science and Math)
-White loose-leaf paper
-Safety scissors
-Blue or black pens -- no felt tips
-Pencil case
-Glue stick
-Four 3-1/2 inch high density IBM formatted disks
-Assorted highlighter pens
-Calculator:
-If in Math-A, you need one graphing calculator, Model TI-83+
-If in Math 8, you need one scientific calculator, Casio fx-300W

All Mohawk 8 students will be required to use the Farnsworth Middle School assignment notebook. This notebook will be available from teachers on the first day of school. Each student will be asked to bring in $4.50 at the beginning of the year to cover the cost of the assignment notebook.

A book bag may be used to carry supplies to and from school, but it must be of a size that can easily be stored in a locker during the school day. For safety and organization reinforcement, the book bag cannot be carried into classes. Hats are not to be worn in class.

LANGUAGE ARTS ALERT! All students must come to class with a book they've read over the summer. It does not have to be a long book, but it must be age appropriate. It must be completely read by the end of the first week of school, so we can discuss our book review assignments in class. A pen and a free-reading book are always required in Language Arts class.

We appreciate your assistance in obtaining these supplies for the opening of school so that we can begin our program on the first day. You may wish to store or delay purchase of materials for art, home and careers, and tech. ed. classes until your child knows the special area rotation.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Abbruzzese - Science
Mr. Sanita - Math
Ms. Scafidi - Reading
Mr. Tuxbury - Language Arts
Mr. Rakoczy - Social Studies
Mrs. Crisafulli - Modified Instructional Program
Mrs. Beninati - Behavioral Consultant Workshop
