Saint Viator Student Council There are five councils of elected officers and class representatives comprising the Student Council. All councils participate in the service projects, fund-raisers, and events sponsored by Student Council. Members of the councils are scheduled into four grade level homerooms. They attend meetings once a week before school, more if needed. Freshmen officers and representatives are elected in September. The councils organize all Homecoming activities, which includes coronation, games day, the pep rally, and daily activities. They also sponsor pep rallies, blood drives and other service projects, informal dances, Winter Turn-About Dance, community fun-fairs for neighborhood children, the Variety Show, Junior Ring Day, Senior Prom and several spirit activities during the year. The purpose of the Student Council is: • To be representative of the entire student body, in order to provide an opportunity for student expression, and to represent the concerns, opinions and recommendations regarding issues that involve the students of Saint Viator High School. • To sponsor, organize and conduct activities that contribute to the growth of the students and promote good school spirit, unity and awareness of community pride in keeping with the Christian atmosphere of the Saint Viator community. • To promote and develop responsible and decisive student leadership within the boundaries of the Christian philosophy of Saint Viator High School. • To be the means of communication between the faculty, administration, and student body, in order to increase the level of cooperation. • To keep open the lines of communication between the Class Councils to insure the success of all school related activities. • To encourage effective communication with area schools, both public and private while promoting better working relationships through the exchange of ideas.
