Here are some of the things we will be covering during the week of January 28-February 1 in our class...
SPELLING
Unit 22 - Students will have a dictation test on Thursday and word test on Friday.

LANGUAGE
In language, students will learn the process to writing a how-to paper. They are doing a how-to on their favorite receipe. This week they will complete their final copy. Students will also be identifying prepositions in sentences.
READING
Our focus this week is chooosing whether a statement is a fact or an opinion.We will be reading selections from our text and from our social studies book.

Tuesday - Read take-home-reader
MATH
Students will be introduced to multiplication facts of 7's. Fact cards for the 7's will go home on Monday. Students need to practice these every night. On Friday, we will have a test over the 7's as well as the 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, 6's, 9's, 10's, and 11's. Our study of geometry will include symmetry, congruency,and the concepts of solid figures.
Homework:
Tuesday - Math
Wednesday - Math- review the shapes and their number of edges,faces,and corners.
Study multiplication facts of 2x's,3's,4's,5's,6's,7's,9's,10's and 11's. Don't forget to also review addition facts and subtraction facts.
Superstars Math is due on Friday.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We completed our simple machines unit, and the children's projects were fantastic!
We will begin our study of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and other famous Americans. It's always fun to learn about famous people who were so important and did so much for our country. HISTORY IS EXCITING!!!!

**Please check Time Trackers on a daily basis. **Signature is needed in the Time Tracker and on the Expectation Card on Tuesday nights.
**PTA papers go home on Mondays, and graded papers will go home on Tuesday.
