 5th Grade The fifth grade class is in a two or three week rotation schedule. Students will come to me for 2 weeks, Mrs. Rogers and 2 weeks with Mrs. Little . This is being done to give the students extra help in Reading, Math and Science. We will be using worksheets that cover all of the TEKS the students need to pass the TAKS. We will also be using Math Facts and Accelerated Math. We are now beginning to work on Grid's in class. We work part of the problems together and part of them independtly. The Grid's we do will cover material that the students have learned previously with added word problems. This will help show their mastery of some materials and help us strengthen their weak points. We have a vocabulary test weekly on words that I we have previously used in class. We will also be using Qwizdom in class which is an interactive progam that expands questions using pictures, charts and graphs.
 6th Grade
The students will be using Course 1 Math book that they have all taken home. They will also be using their workbook called Noteables along with their foldables that we are creating in class. We will have a Vocabulary test every Thursday over the words we have already covered plus new ones. They have these words in their books, noteables and foldables. Vocabulary is a large part of the students learning. They need to know what the terms mean in order to know what to do on each problem. Students are allowed to correct work.
{ This six weeks we will be finishing up Chapter 1 and diving into Chapter 2. We will also be using Qwizdom which is an interactive program that uses, pictures, charts and graphs to create a better understanding of materials we are working on in class. }
 8th Grade My eighth graders will be on 2 week rotations. They will have me for Math, Mrs. Fontenot for Science and Mrs. Rogers for reading.
They will be tested this year over 4 different subjects for the TAKS.
Students will spend the 1st day making flash cards over the 1st 25 squares, and the most common fractions. It will be important for students to have them with them whenever they are in my class. We will have a test every Friday over our cards. Students will know on Monday which cards they need to study. We will also spend at least 5 minutes a day in class going over the cards that will be on our Friday test. {We will be working on fractions this six weeks. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also be incorporating Qwizdom which is an interactive program which reinforces what the students have learned in their regular math class.}
Students should also be working on their AM (Accelerated Math) at home and in their free time at school. This progam is individualized to help each and every student to strengthen their skill in math.
