The animal above, is widely known as the Numbat. It is only found in the woodlands in the western tip of Australia. It is an average 24 centimeters long with a tail with is normally about 17 centimeters long. Its fur is a reddish-brown with white stripes across its back The Numbat is a strange marsupial, because it does not have a pouch to carry its young.
Mating Knowledge
The Numbat mating season is in December. After being impregnated by the male, the female numbat will give birth in 14 days to an average of 5 infants. From there the infants will attach themselves to the mother for about 5 months. Then, the baby numbats will be able to detach themselves from the mother and then they are free to start their own lives and find their own territories.
Eating Habits
The numbat has a strict diet consisting of only termites (white ants).The average numbat eats about 20,000 termites in one day.
HabitatThe numbat is a rare and endangered species. Its numbers have been reduced due to habitat loss and foxes. We need to help save the numbat, or it will become extinct very soon.
