Bald Eagles are an endangered species. There is an estimated 9,789 breeding pairs of Bald Eagles left. Bald Eagles usually die from gun shots, electrocution, poisoning, vehicle collision, and starvation. In 1782 the Bald Eagle became part of the National Emblem.

Bald Eagles have excellent eyesight. Females usually lay 1 to 3 eggs. Males are usually smaller than the females.

Size-35 to 37 inches

Weight-8 to 15 pounds

Height-3 to 3 feet 6 inches

Wingspan-6 to 8 feet

Color-White head, neck, and tail - Blackish/Brown back and breast - Yellow feet and bill

Longevity-around 30 years

Flight Speed-30 to 45 mph

Height of Flight-10,000 feet

Sexually Mature-4 or 5 years

Food-fish, waterfowl, and small to medium mammals

Habitat-seacoast, forest, valley, mountain region, lakes, and rivers
