WOW!!! Can you believe how fast the year has gone? For the next two weeks, we will be learning about the oceans and some of the animals and creatures that live there.
READING: Continue to read 20 minutes each night at home. Have your child read for fun and pleasure. It is very important to keep them reading this summer. One way to do this is to participate in the Johnson City Public Library Summer Reading Program. Look for more information about this program to come home with your child this week.
MATH: Continue to practice math facts to 20. We will be reviewing the concepts and skills we have learned this year. Continue to have your child count money, tell time, and practice counting by twos, fives, and tens.
VOCABULARY:Practice the word list for themes 9-10. Your child should show mastery of the word lists for themes 1-10. If your child instantly recognizes the words for all themes, have him/her spell them or give a definition for the words or write sentences using the words.
SPELLING: NO SPELLING UNIT THIS WEEK!
REMINDERS:
1. Continue to save BoxTops for Education during the summer.
2. When your child is absent, please send a written note to me. Also, if there is a change in your child's dismissal at the end of the day, please inform me of it.
3. Please make sure you have money in your child's lunch account or send money daily if your child is buying lunch. NO MORE CHARGING LUNCH IN THE CAFETERIA FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR.
4. I will not send the Weekly Work Folder this Friday. It will be sent on Thursday, May 28th with the Report Card.

Wedneday, May 20th: Towne Criers Reading Awards Program for K-2 at 12:30
Friday, May 22nd: Field Day and Book Fair
Monday, May 25th: Memorial Day - NO SCHOOL
Tuesday, May 26th: First Grade Teachers will provide lunch for your child on this day. A note will be sent this week with more information.
Wednesday, May 27th: Awards Day and Fifth Grade Promotion
Thursday, May 28th: Last Day of School - 12:00 Dismissal
Thank you again for all the wonderful ways you expressed your appreciation to me during Teacher Appreciation Week. I have enjoyed having your child and watching each one become a "shining star" this school year. I am so proud of the progress the children have made. Thank you for your help and support.
I wish each of you a wonderful summer filled with lots of fun. Don't forget to have your child read this summer and keep those stars shining!
