Over Break: Go over all your movement notes and handouts for a quiz on Friday Dec 6.
Monday Nov 12: plan a special movement scene with your partner that has at least FOUR special movements for EACH of you. Complete the handout to turn in before your performance. You will have several class days to rehearse.
Thursday October 24 Be sure to attend the fall play this weekend if you have not attended a dress rehearsal. Answer questions 1-4 below AND one other question. Due Tuesday.
Questions
1. Describe what you think is the most amusing incident in the play.
2. Which character did you like the best/ least and why?
Alternate #2: If you know someone who was a principal in the cast, how was their character different from their off stage self?
3. Which character is the most like you and why?
4. Was there anything in the play you did not understand?
5. The prologue and epilogue are often cut from productions. Do you think they added or subtracted from the play and why?
6. Explain which character, in your opinion, was the hero/heroine of the play.
7. Contrast and compare the circumstances and the characters of the pairs of lovers:
- Kate & Marlow vs Constance and George.
8. Examine the use of dramatic irony and how it aids the comedy of the play.
9. Discuss one of the following themes in the play:
Deceit and trickery
Class Bias
The older generation trying to control the younger generation
Friday Oct 18: Journals due. Don't forget a review based on acting.
Monday Sept 30: Be prepared to perform a "Join-in Pantomime." Be sure to perform it for a family member WITHOUT TELLING THEM what it is you are doing. Keep it simple. Use the conventions we covered in class. Don't forget to use lots of FACIAL EXPRESSION!
Tues Sept 24 Quiz on Voice. Go over packet and class notes.
Wed Sept 11. Be ready to tell your story (2-3 minutes) to the class. Remember to use gestures, expression and AT LEAST 2 other voices. Be sure to have an introduction and conclusion.
Tues Sept 10. Memorize "speak the speech" from the packet. Be ready to deliver it aloud with an English accent and one other voice.
Monday August 26 --- Be prepared to introduce your partner. BE SURE TO PRACTICE ALOUD!! You will be graded on content, eye contact, expression and enthusiasm. Use an outline or bullet points (which will be collected.) DO NOT READ FROM A MANUSCRIPT!!!
